Why Is Ivana Alawi Viral Right Now? The iPhone Giveaway, Backlash, and PAGCOR's ₱1M Fine

On July 15, 2026, Ivana Alawi announced a giveaway of 100 iPhone 17 units (or ₱50,000 cash) to mark her Facebook page crossing 50 million followers. The giveaway quickly drew criticism from fellow creators and industry groups. The Creator and Influencer Council of the Philippines (CICP) said gambling-related endorsements "deserve a heightened degree of caution and responsibility," and commentators raised concerns that the campaign exposed a large, mixed-age following to gambling promotion in exchange for a follow.
According to a report from Inquirer.net, PAGCOR has since fined the Casino Plus-linked gambling firm ₱1 million in connection with the giveaway.
